In the early 2000s, several events became popular destinations for Black travelers seeking fun and excitement. Younger, college-aged crowds flocked to Black College Reunion (BCR) in Daytona Beach, FL, while older biker enthusiasts headed to Black Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, SC. Meanwhile, Beach Party Weekend in Galveston, TX, attracted mainly locals from southern Texas. Each event had its own distinct flavor, yet all shared a certain undeniable charm.
A rising producer of amateur Black adult content, known as “Big Dawg” or “The Dawg,” took notice of these gatherings. Intrigued by the high energy and bold behaviors on display, he saw an opportunity to expand his adult film empire, which included black amateurs website “SynC’s Black Women.” He began filming at these events, starting in 2002 with “BCR Madness 2002.” Soon after, he captured footage at Black Bike Week and Beach Party Weekend. However, by 2005, increased police presence and restrictions at these events made them less appealing to attendees. Despite this, The Dawg had already made a name for himself in the underground adult entertainment world, specializing in Black voyeur content. His focus later shifted to South Beach for Memorial Day Weekend in Miami, where his highest-selling DVD, “Memorial Day Miami v2,” was produced. Unfortunately, this event too faced crackdowns from local authorities, diminishing its allure.
In addition to his spring break-themed videos, Dawg Films also released a series of Black amateur adult DVDs. One of the most popular titles was “Tales From the Barbershop,” which became his third highest-grossing DVD.
Even after the decline of these festivals, Dawg Films continued to offer its content online, allowing fans of the genre to purchase and relive the experiences. The site remained active until it closed in 2020.
