During a nationally televised Hurricane Katrina relief show, actor/rapper Kayne West showed the world what he was made of as he went on a tirade against George W. Bush.

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” West said. “They’re saying black families are looting and white families are just looking for food…they’re giving the (Army) permission to shoot us”

NBC attempted to cut off the out-of-line remarks by cutting to a shot of actor Chris Tucker, but by then, the damage had already been done.

I think Kayne is totally wrong. The pics dont lie. There was total lawlessness there. The stealing of food and water is understandable. The stealing of a big screen–he should be shot for being so stupid. Dont blame Bush for the looting. Blame the thugs. Kayne you are going to get more people killed, telling this garbage. Kanye Was more than right, if this desaster has happened in an erea like Dc or california or somewhere with white majority as residents HEPL will have been there the next day.bush doesn’t care, we all know that and people have to do whatever to survive.I’m BLACK too and i think it’s kind of stupid sealing electronics but if they get food to eat and clothes to wear ,I dont think they should be call thieves.

I think in a way both sides are right. Black people should love one another more. But in reality that is not going to happen unless we start raising the future generations better. I think Bush does care about black people. WE PAY TAXES DON’T WE. Get my drift. This world is segregated wether we admit it or not. It has always been that way it will stay that way. Sorry to say. Now back to the tragedy in the south. If it were a white neighborhood I do think things would have been handled quicker. Look how fast he sent help to Iraq and other places. Good points made. Bottom line is the system failed to respond to an emergency LIKE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY! In turn alot of people died. Private organizations responded quicker (ie Red Cross & others.) It will be interesting to see who takes the fall for all of this.

I am a Black man and you know what? Whether you like it or not, Kanye did have a point. What has Bush done for Blacks since he’s been in office? Bush has been fuckin’ up since he got in office. You cannot honestly say that Bush had no clue that Sept. 11 was going to happen. There is no way in hell Bush didn’t know…Bush needed an excuse to go after Sadam Hussein and finish what his dad started. If I’m wrong then someone explain to me why the hell we still haven’t found Osama yet? BECAUSE WE AREN’T LOOKING FOR OSAMA. IT WAS NEVER ABOUT OSAMA.

But gettin’ back to the subject, Kanye does have a point. But we blacks need to stop takin’ the easy way out seeing ourselves as "the victim" all the time. In all honesty, I can’t say one way or another whether if I would steal or not if I was in an evacuee’s situation.

And for those of you who feel that Kanye and the rest of the entertainers need to stop passing judgement and do something about it themselves have a point as well. But that doesn’t negate the fact that it is takin’ too damn long to respond to something they knew was going to happen in the first place. Eventhough it was unknown where exactly Katrina was going to hit, something still should have been done when it was known that Katrina was, beyond a shadow, of a doubt going to hit.

Finally, the only reason it was mainly the blacks stealing is because New Orleans is 75% black. I read several newspaper articles in which blacks were stated as "looting" and whites were listed as having "found such items" when in reality, both races were doing the same thing whether you see it as "looting" or "finding." You be the judge.
