Alright, Im at the movies last week supporting black cinema by checking out Fat Albert and I see the preview for Are we there yet? from Ice Cube. Now anyone who saw this knows this is a flat out bite of Cedric’s movie Johnson’s Family Vacation.

Now I saw that one… Im not sure if Im going to see this one. If I do I will probably say I am going to see that carmel honey Nia Long.

Props to Ice Cube for spitting out the flicks. I know when they made this movie they knew it wasnt going to break any box office numbers, but if the movie was made on a low budget it could still turn a profit (and thats the name of the game) its all good.

In looking for pics for this article I came across a contest that they are giving away a Lincoln Navigator as part of the movie’s promotion. You can best believe I entered. Shit, some new wheels would be lovely.

Happy Holidays

I hope you have a nice Christmas holiday spending time with your time with friends and family. Peace!

The upcoming third season of Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show is apparently only half-baked.

Work on the hugely anticipated new season of Dave Chappelle’s sketch show is behind schedule due to its 31-year-old ringleader’s illness and lack of new material from his writing staff, according to the New York Post.

The new season was supposed to premiere Feb. 16. It will now begin airing sometime in late April or May, per the Post.

“Dave–and his entire production crew for that matter–got a bit of a late start on writing season three,” network spokeman Tony Fox told the newspaper.

Chappelle has reportedly been laid up with a nasty flu bug, adding to delays brought on by the lack of written material so far for season three. The Emmy-nominated comedy is currently on hiatus for the holidays and will resume production in January.

Last week, Paramount pushed back the season 2 DVD release–which had been slated to hit stores Feb. 8 to coincide with the new TV season–presumably due to the production slowdown. No new release date for the DVD has been set yet.

There was no immediate comment Monday from Comedy Central or Chappelle’s publicist.

Since the offbeat sketch show debuted in January 2003, it has steadily built a large following. By the end of season two, the half-hour show was often pulling in more than 3 million viewers. The DVD release of season one currently ranks as the all-time top-selling TV show on DVD.

In August, Chappelle reupped with Comedy Central in a massive two-year deal, valued at $50 million by the Hollywood Reporter. The deal also set a new Industry precedent–reportedly giving the funnyman a large cut of backend DVD sales.

In addition to his gig at Comedy Central, Chappelle had been working on a book for Hyperion. No word on the book’s status; there’s also no word on the rumored movie deal with Paramount for Chappelle to portray Rick James in a biopic.

Prior to work on his new TV season, Chappelle had been overseeing a feature film/DVD project combining sketch comedy with footage from a Brooklyn block party filmed in September that featured a reunited Fugees. A 10-person crew, directed by Michel Gondry, captured the Chappelle-conceived event.

Former Miami Dolphins superstar Ricky Williams was so afraid of dealing publicly with his failed drug test that he retired rather than face the media and the NFL over it.

His biggest fear was that people would know he smoked marijuana, he tells Correspondent Mike Wallace in his first television interview since retiring.

“The thing that I had the most trouble with was that after you fail your third test, then it becomes public knowledge,” he tells Wallace. “That’s one thing I couldn’t deal with at the time – people knowing that I smoke marijuana. That was my biggest fear in my whole entire life. I was scared to death of that.”

So last July, after he tested positive for marijuana for a third time, he retired from the NFL and ran away to Australia where he read a lot and discovered his current passion, Ayurveda. Williams is now studying at the California College of Ayurveda to learn the ancient healing science that originated in India thousands of years ago.

Williams, the 27-year-old player who led the league in rushing in 2002, realizes that his sudden decision to quit football disappointed his Miami teammates.

“I didn’t know ahead of time or I would have given them a clue,” he says. “[His decision to retire] happened in the course of two days. Boom boom boom boom, I failed another drug test. That’s when I knew, OK, it was time for me to go.”

The former franchise running back says he owes no one an apology, not even his Dolphin team that foundered as soon as he left. He disagrees that he’s to blame for their current losing season.

“That’s their problem. …It’s not my problem anymore. I played as hard as I could whenever I put that uniform on, but I’m not doing that anymore, you know? I moved on,” he tells Wallace.

“So when is it OK for me to stop playing football? When my knees went out? When my shoulders went out? When I had too many concussions?”

Williams says he’s entirely at peace about giving up football and the huge salary it paid him, though he will not entirely rule out a comeback. His salary this year would have been $5 million, and now his former team is suing him for over $8 million for breach of contract – money he says he does not have.

What he does have now is freedom from the structured life of the NFL, he says, as he embarks on a path to mental and physical health through Ayurveda. But he understands what others perceive.

“To a lot of people, I look very foolish in what I am doing and I understand that,” he says. “[It doesn’t bother me] because the only thing that matters is how I feel, and if I let what they feel affect me, then it changes how I feel.”

Rapper Young Buck was charged on Monday with stabbing a fellow performer in a dispute over an autograph that touched off a melee at a Los Angeles-area hip-hop awards show last month, prosecutors said.

Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, attacked rapper Jimmy James Johnson after Johnson was refused an autograph by Dr. Dre and then punched the rap impresario in the face, prosecutors said.

Dre, whose true name is Andre Young, was waiting to go onstage to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Nov. 15 Vibe Awards show in Santa Monica, California.

The dispute set off a chair-throwing brawl that spread through the audience of about 1,000, but did not halt the ceremony, which was later televised on network UPN.

Johnson was arrested and remains in custody on a suspected parole violation, prosecutors said.

Brown, 23, faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of the charges filed on Monday, prosecutors said. He remains free on $500,000 bail and was set to be arraigned on Monday.

What would you do if you found out one of your friend’s sister was trickin’ on the ave? Im trolling the club scene in Tampa’s Ybor area and I see this female with classic trick wear on, neon pink tight shorts, now remember its cold as fuck – I think it was 38 or some shit this night. Im like damn Tampa got some fine ass bassheads. I was buying a BBQ dinner from that brother hustlin’ over there and while I waiting for him to hook me up here comes that trick. So she asks the dude if he can give her some chicken and she’ll pay him later. I get a good look at her face and its Virgina. I called her name and she did a double take and immediately got embarrassed.

She asked me for $20 and asked me for a ride up the street for some Newports (A basehead’s signature). Now I know this trick true, but she got me fucked up if she think Im going to hand her money and let her get in my truck. Fuck that. I asked her how long she has been doing this and she said she comes out 2 or 3 times a month. Judging by her appearance she may have been telling the truth. She was looking decent but she is still a trick. She told me her family doesnt know she does this on the side and not to say anything, cuz her full time job is a private school bus driver. Now I play ball with her brother every now and then and buddy is the type to straight merc her ass if he saw her on the curb. Im not going to say shit, I’ll let her do her thang and the truth will come out one of these days. She just getting her hustle on and I aint mad at her for that – I just feel for her Moms, cuz ‘ol girl may do 2 backflips in her wheelchair when she catches wind of this.

All-Star Vince Carter was traded by the Toronto Raptors to the New Jersey Nets for Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and a pair of first-round draft picks Friday.

Carter, on the injured list with a strained left Achilles’ tendon, was at the Raptors’ morning shootaround, but did not accompany the team to Conseco Fieldhouse for its game against the Pacers.

“Anytime you lose a guy like Vince, it’s a big blow,” Toronto forward Donyell Marshall said. “He was to Canada what Michael Jordan was to the Bulls.”

“Obviously they felt that was the best deal on the table for us,” said Marshall, who spoke to Carter at his hotel room. “We’re going to miss Vince as a player and as a person. We wish him the best.”

Carter is headed to a Nets team that sorely missed the athleticism it lost when Kenyon Martin left for Denver in the offseason. With Jason Kidd healthy again and Richard Jefferson on one wing, New Jersey has a chance to return to the up-tempo style that made it one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

“We are very excited to add a player of Vince’s caliber to the Nets roster,” Nets president Rod Thorn said. “He is a proven All-Star who brings a unique dynamic to any team of which he is a member.

“Vince’s ability to run the floor fits in very well with our desired style of play, and his ability to create his own shot will elevate the productivity of our halfcourt offense.”

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A charity appearance by rap star Ludacris at Montgomery Mall was cut short Thursday evening after two small fights broke out.

Though scheduled for two hours, he was asked to leave by police after about 20 minutes when security could not control the crowd, the Montgomery Advertiser reported. Well over 100 people had been waiting for more than 30 minutes for the rapper to arrive.

“I would have liked to stay, but I understand I was part of the problem,” Ludacris, a College Park, Ga., native, told the newspaper.

“We expected a lot of people to show up but not to this degree,” said Kristy Jansen, marketing director at Montgomery Mall.

Montgomery police said no arrests were made and declined further comment.

Those who attended weren’t pleased.

“They clearly weren’t prepared for this or had no idea how big an artist he was,” said Tiffany Jones, of Montgomery, who had brought her two children to see the rapper. “Security was inadequate, and it was an unsafe environment.
